Ortzadar Arraina
"The Rainbow Fish" in Basque
Last week at school, we celebrated Mother Tongue Week.
In circle time, we acknowledged and shared our own Mother Tongue with the class. With that, we started each day by learning to say hello in another language. We practised "hello" in Irish, Polish, French and German.
Our week ended with story-time in Basque. A parent visited our classroom and kindly volunteered to read the story of The Rainbow fish or, as we've learned, Ortzadar Arraina. With that, we danced along to a song in Basque and even learned how to say "hello"- "Kaixo!".

What a wonderful week!
